During Breakfirst all the staff is really nice. The room is clean as any other German hotel. The price is not so expensive. As some other hotel in this city,if they are not far from centre, could cost more. I have called another hotel,that one is full,I try to ask him more questions,he doesn't even would like to speak one more word,just because his is full for that day.But avena has better location with a cheaper price and better availability.
After I stayed one night, I went back to the hotel to find my friend,a new staff is just curious about my purpose,she may thought I m just wandering around. Good that finally I have found my friend,I wound thank them. However, she is not smiling at all while some other staff are also sitting there, looking at me curiously. The eye contacts from them to me is not feeling good.they were just looking me through.If you don't speak good German,I guess sometimes you may have such problem. This is not a single case,it could happen in any little town like the size of Nordhausen. I guess most people who visit this town are possibly German.

Hotel Avena is about a 10 minute walk to the Harts Mountain railway station. Cheap and a good selection of food for breakfast, staff friendly.
Staff did not process my visa card correctly and therefore my card was rejected. On speaking directly with my visa company they informed me that the payment had never been requested due to incorrect processing by the hotel staff.

Good budget hotel, next door to the zoo and the Ubahn. Would be ok for families interested in exploring the city.
Car parking is difficult to find. ok for people arriving by train.

1) Good staffs. Good Service. But they only can speak German. 2) The hotel is near railway station. It is about 10 minutes by walk. 3) There are about 6 super markets near hotel. It is about 5 minutes by walk. It is easy for shopping. 4) Room is clean and comfortable. 5) It has WIFI.
There is no lift. If you have a heavy luggage, it is a big problem. The bathroom is small.

Friendly staff, great breakfast, clean rooms.
No soap, rooms were a bit boxy - dark with low ceiling. But good value for money.
